A note on code embedded within the Dedication to this work


a) Beneath “Dedication” there are nine stars. Above “Dulce et Decorum Est…” there are eleven stars. Hence 9-11
b) The first line above the stars consists of one line, the text between the stars has 11 lines, the text below the last row of stars has 3 lines. Hence 1-11-3, play on the “11” and odd number aspect of the code. It can be anagrammed as 1-3-11 or read backwards as 3-111 to produce the same “3-11” as the date of the Madrid bombing.
c) Above the first row of stars, “A Dedication” has 11 letters. Below the last row of stars, the Latin phrase has 11 letters for each of the first two rows, and nine letters on the last row. Hence, 11-11-11-9, which anagrams or reads backwards to give us 9-11.
